Firefighters struggled through the heat today, June 25, to battle a large skip fire that caused smoke to rise across parts of Rugby

Writing on the Rugby Fire Station Facebook page, a spokesperson explained: "White Watch have had a challenging day in the heat today.

"Many will have observed a smoke plume across parts of Rugby earlier, as the crews tackled a large skip fire.

"The pictures show how hard this was to bring under control, as the roofing materials in the skip had melted into a large ball which continued to burn from the inside."

Firefighters worked with a Rugby business to move the skip away from a nearby school, allowing them to further tackle the fire.
