Kenilworth schoolchildren have been learning how to play the violin using a Japanese method.
Ten pupils at St Augustine’s Primary School started weekly lessons with Sue Mock from the county music service in September. They have been following the 'Suzuki method' - based on a theory that every child has musical talent which can flourish in the right environment.

The approach involves the whole family working closely with the music tutor to teach their children. Parents are expected to attend each session, with siblings invited as well. In addition to the weekly lessons the beginners also attend monthly sessions at Kenilworth School where they will play the violin together and take part in workshops with other Suzuki violinists from Leamington, Warwick and surrounding areas.
