Kenilworth residents Louise and Andy Dee are up in arms over damage to their wheelie bin that they say has been caused by refuse contractors.
Mrs Dee, of Windy Arbour, says the bin has been damaged and left in a ‘right state’. She was so angry at the situation, she has taken pictures of the damage.

She said: “Knowing that the changes in refuse collection have been a hot topic in Kenilworth, I thought these pictures may be of some interest to your readers.

“They show the state our bin was returned to us today (June 23) after having our waste collected. The holes are bad enough as they will allow small animals to gain access to the bin, but as we have to wheel our bin across a neighbour’s property in order to get it to the front of our house, the unusable wheel just adds to the disgusting way our bin has been damaged.

“If the council staff can damage the bin in this way after such a short space of time, then surely they need some training, or we'll all need new bins every couple of months.”

Richard Brooker of Warwick District Council said that the refuse contractors were not actually council employees and no comment could be made until the council knew how the damage was caused.

He said that they would arrange for the contractor to go out to her home on Windy Arbour to investigate the issue further.

He added: “However, from the position of the puncture marks they do not appear to have been made by the bin hoist, which grabs the bin along the rim just below the lid. As far as I can tell we’ve not received any complaint about this but if Mrs Dee could contact us we will investigate further.”

Mr Dee has been in touch with Warwick District Council and the council has delivered a new grey bin to the household. The damaged bin has not yet been taken away.
